Sessions
A session is one moment of work: a meeting, a call, a block of focus. Sessions are the unit of work in Azynote and you will create them constantly. There are three entry points. Pick whichever matches the moment.
1. Globally, from anywhere (Cmd+N)
The fastest path. Works from any screen.
- Press Cmd+N, or use the menu bar: File > New Session
- A small dialog opens with a subject picker
- Type to filter, then pick an existing Subject (or create a new one inline)
- The session opens immediately in the Session Dashboard, ready for notes or a transcription
The Timeline view also has a + button in its toolbar that opens the same dialog, so use whichever feels natural.
Use this when an idea, call, or moment hits and you don't yet know which Subject it belongs to.
2. From a Subject (pre-filled)
When you already know which project the session belongs to, start from the Subject. This skips the picker. The new session is automatically linked to that Subject.
There are two places this lives:
- Inside a Subject page: Open the Subject. Click the + icon in the top toolbar. New session, immediately linked.
- From the Workspace Dashboard: In the Subjects tab, expand the Subject card you want. Click the + icon that appears in the expanded card. Same result.
Use this when you are already in the headspace of a specific project.
3. From a calendar event (Next Meetings)
This is the most powerful path for meetings. Open the Next Meetings panel on the Workspace Dashboard. You will see your upcoming and recent calendar events, pulled from Apple Calendar (see Prerequisites).
Click any meeting (past or upcoming). Azynote:
- Shows a small Subject picker (sometimes pre-suggesting a Subject based on the event)
- Creates a brand new session linked to that calendar event
- Pre-fills the meeting title, attendees, and time
- Drops you into the Session Dashboard, ready to transcribe or take notes
Right after a meeting ends, click it in Next Meetings, dictate or type a few notes, and you have captured it without typing a title or picking a date.
Next: Subjects.
